The publication gives attention to the painter, art theoretician and art pedagogue F. V. Mokrý (1892–1975), a personality that has not yet been sufficiently appreciated by the history of art. The synthetic treatise on a prominent representative of the influential generation of pedagogical artists of the first half of the 20th century is based on a thorough archival study (especially in the Museum of Czech Literature in Prague and the Archives of the National Gallery in Prague). It demonstartes Mokrý’s identification with modern art trends and experimental teaching methods at the avant-garde Bauhaus and places his creative and organizational activities in important art associations and in the field of art education in a European context.
