The monograph analyses the possibilities of assessment of pragmatic level of language (PLL) in children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in order to extend both the theoretical and application base in special education and speech-language pathology, as well as in related scientific disciplines aimed at diagnosing and intervention. The original research results are based on a field research, comparing the groups of children with developmental dysphasia, mild intellectual disability, and typical population. The authors emphasise the need for the assessment of PLL not only by means of quantity-based testing, but primarily by combing with individually targeted quality-based observation and direct confrontation with children's statements or expressions.
